[ It doesn't stop how she feels for Cloud, of course, but Aerith is entirely aware of her own death; she's entirely aware of Cloud's humanity, and his heart, and she can't sit there and demand that he never look at another woman and never look at someone else. She died and he lived, and all she wants is for him to find his happiness.
It hurts, of course, that his happiness had to be without her, but... She's here now, isn't she? And her eyes are hopeful as she looks up at him. ] She did? [ Aerith softens, closing her eyes. ] Mm. I suppose someone had to look out for you, just for a little while.
She did help. [True, it was Cloud who showed her the way out of his mind, but that hardly matters when just her being there had helped calm him down and feel less terribly isolated and alone.
Cloud hesitates for another moment before gingerly reaching out to take her hand in his, carefully, her fingers cradled gently in his own.] We probably have some stuff to talk about...after this all settles down.
Good. I'm happy. [ Nothing will make her death feel better, of course, even if it had been her path, her duty to the planet, but... It didn't mean she was happy about it. Her duty wasn't her choice, after all.
Her hand wraps around Cloud's and she nods her head, breathing out a soft, gentle sigh. ] When will that be? We don't need to wait if you want to talk now, Cloud.
If we do it now I know I'm gonna let something dumb fall outta my mouth. [Look, he's overwhelmed and he's either on the verge of proposing or getting into the shuttle and flying off into the darkness forever, so like. NOT RIGHT NOW....] Sorry...do you mind waiting a little?
That's fine. I can wait as long as it takes, so don't you worry. [ It's not like she minds waiting. He can't go anywhere and neither can she - they're together, for better or worse. ] I'll be waiting.
